CAN New WesT 2022

We are excited to announce that the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition is offering a second CAN (Community Action Network) Leadership Training Program in 2022 to empower more people with lived and living experience, and to replenish the membership of the CAN Network.

We are asking for your help in promoting this exciting training opportunity, including the upcoming February 23rd 2022 Information Session.  We are also asking for your continuing help in recruiting eligible individuals.

CAN Program Details:

The Community Action Network (CAN) Leadership Training Program is intended to increase the involvement of people with lived and living experience in poverty and homelessness in civic planning, policy development and decision-making, thus making these processes more representative and responsive.

 Program Highlights:

·       Training Workshops will occur April to May 2022 

·       No experience necessary, but an ability to commit to the entire program is important.

·       Applications are open to all those who have lived/ living experienced in poverty.

·       12 spaces available: spots filled at the discretion of BC Poverty Reduction Coalition staff.

·       No previous education or training required.

·       CAN will be offered in English. ASL interpreters can be available.

·       All workshops will be located New Westminster City Hall (511 Royal Ave, New Westminster, BC V3L 1H9).

·       Small group learning in a comfortable and accessible space.

·       Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be served at all workshops, plus coffee and tea.

·       Childcare subsidy for at-home childcare is available for all workshops.

·       Transportation costs are covered for all workshops if need be.

Upcoming Information Session:

We are hosting an in-person information session for interested participants:

·       Date: Wednesday, February 23rd 2022 at 6:30pm.

·       Location: Holy Trinity Cathedral in New West (514 Carnarvon St).

·       Purpose: The session will be 45 minutes to both go over the program, and leave time for your questions!

Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
