The Single Mothers’ Alliance of BC is a newly-formed organization with the vision of connecting across the unique identities and diverse experiences of single mothers to find common ground, build community, and advocate for change, for mothers and their children. A member organization of the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, its founding member and current president, Viveca Ellis, was recently interviewed by Vancouver’s Georgia Straight:

“We feel that in British Columbia at this time, it’s so bad for single mothers that we just want to get them together to talk—to mine into the issues,”
