On Wednesday, May 7th, Ted Bruce, Seth Klein and Trish Garner, of the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition (BCPRC) published an Op-Ed in the newspaper The Province, where they argue the many reasons why BC needs a Poverty Reduction Plan. This in response to Tuesday’s motion at BC’s Legislature by Nelson-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall, who introduced Bill M212, The Poverty Reduction and Economic Inclusion Act. In the article, the BCPRC argues:
“growing literature on the social determinants of health reveals that tackling poverty upfront is the single biggest factor in improving health outcomes for everyone, not just those living in poverty.”
