BC Advocate for Children and Youth gets the brush off from Campbell

Child poverty has been the focus of a public volley in Victoria’s Times Colonist regarding Child and Youth Advocate Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond’s call for a meeting with Premier Campbell and NDP Leader Carole James. Despite BC’s six-year run with the highest child poverty rates of any province in Canada, Campbell turned down the meeting. Instead he directed Turpel-Lafond to bring it up with the legislative committee on children and youth ? a committee that has not met for seven months and likely won’t meet again until the fall.
