Community pressure has pushed the government to implement a poverty reduction strategy. Now we need community action to ensure that it is a strong one with legislated targets and timelines. Too many people in BC are working hard, often in more than one job, but still not making ends meet. Many workers tell us: we needed a $15 minimum wage yesterday! After many years of mobilizing, now is our opportunity to show the government that we need this increase for all employees, no exceptions. Click here for the latest updates.
Email the Premier and ask him to support a strong poverty reduction plan BC has the highest poverty rates in Canada, and we need a comprehensive poverty reduction plan.
It's time BC's leaders take bold steps towards a comprehensive plan with designated targets and timelines, which can help us ensure that we make this province a great place to live for everyone. Once you've sent your email to the Premier and our other provincial leaders, please ask your friends and family to do the same!
