Greetings signatories to the BC Poverty Reduction Open Letter,

The call is continuing to grow! You’ve joined with over 1300 individuals and 270 organizations from across BC who have signed on to the call for a BC poverty reduction plan.

Now that you’ve joined the call, there are many different ways you can take action:

Monday, April 6th is Lobby Your MLA Candidates Day! Join British Columbians across the province on this day, and let your MLA candidates know that you have signed the Open Letter for a BC poverty reduction plan, and want to vote for someone – and a party – ready to make the same commitment. There are many activities that you can do to help make this call; here are some great suggestions:

  • Arrange a meeting with your local candidates to talk about the need for BC poverty reduction plan;
  • Call all of your local candidates to urge their parties to commit to a poverty reduction plan;
  • Other great ideas are available at:

The Grand March for Housing is happening on April 4th. Communities across the province will be marching to demand immediate government action to end homelessness, build social housing, raise welfare and minimum wage rates. For more information, visit or contact

For those who live in the Prince George area, on April 8th, there will be a Public Forum with Seth Klein on a BC Poverty Reduction Plan in Prince George, sponsored by the Prince George District Teachers’ Association. It will be held at Vanier Hall (Prince George Secondary School) at 7:00 pm.
